About Kingston

In 1987, Kingston Technology was founded when John Tu and David Sun saw that there was a severe shortage of surface-mount memory chips in the market and designed a new single in-line memory module (SIMM) to get rid of this problem. As time went on, the company continued to expand and improve their products. In 1996, Softbank Corporation of Japan acquired 80 percent of the company and just a three years later, Tu and Sun bought that percentage back. Today, Kingston is the largest independent producer of DRAM memory modules and the second largest supplier of flash memory. Kingston offers a wide range of products including server and desktop memory, SSDs, USB flash drives, flash cards, wireless readers, and various embedded memory products.
